Grey line

A live audio-performance with a strong visual and acoustic impact, whose themes are linked to current events, climate change and humanity’s impact on the heart. Grey Line is a visceral analysis of today’s world trough shades of grey. The contemporary world is not made up of absolutes, but of and intricate mosaic of greys. Light and dark, good and evil intertwine, reflecting the complexity of the decisions we must make to survive in an interconnected and globalised society.
Starting from exposure, assimilation and analysis of the continuous media bombardment, in an attempt to define this “era of absurdity” in which we live, also called “the wrong timeline”, SPIME.IM uses news footage, memes and computer-generated images to try to make sense of the chaos or perhaps just describe the emotional place in which we are trapped.

SPIME.IM is an artistic collective that creates transmedia projects exploring the aesthetics and languages derived from the affirmation of digital reality. Programming is at the heart of their work: the collective “builds” audio and video tools that allow complete control over the manipulation of sounds and images in real time, using databending, data moshing, AI-assisted video synthesis, 3D graphics and automated audio-video editing. They have presented their work at international digital art festivals such as Mutek (Canada, Japan and Spain), Ars Electronica, Club to Club, Lunchmeat, Stereolux and L.E.V. In addition, they presented their latest multimedia production, “The End Of The World”, at the Barbican Centre in London with internationally renowned pianist and composer Lubomyr Melnyk, cellist Julia Kent, vocal group Shards and soprano Elina Netšajeva.
The collective is composed of Davide Tomat, Gabriele Ottino and Marco Casolati.
