For over two years, Gaza has been systematically excluded from international news coverage: its border remains closed foreign press, leaving local journalists as the sole witnesses. Since October 7th, 2023, over 240 Palestinians, including journalists, photographers and media workers, have been killed by the Israeli army, often in deliberately targeted attacks. The genocide in Gaza has become the deadliest conflict for journalists in contemporary history.
The exhibition by the Activestills collective, curated by Prospekt, is intended as a tribute to Palestinian photographers and a call for justice for all those who have been killed, attacked, arrested and dehumanised – and for those who, despite the risks and horrors, continue to document what is happening so that world can see and react.

Founded in 2005, the Activestills photography collective documents Palestinian popular resistance in the face of Israeli colonial violence. Starting as a small group of activist photographers, it has grown to include Palestinian, international and Israeli photographers united by their rejection of the Zionist colonial project. The collective sees its work as part of a broader struggle against all form of oppression, racism and violation of the fundamental right to freedom.
Prospekt Palestine Project was established in 2025 from a group of photographers from Prospekt’s agency with the objective of contrasting the distortion of the public debate on the Palestinian situation, support local professionals and raise the international public awareness. An active solidarity. An active solidarity project that combines journalist production and independent divulgation with the construction of permanent educational and research infrastructures.
