A space where theatre, the arts, and journalism intersect to spark critical thinking and foster connections that leave room for open questions rather than easy answers.
ON THE MAP: Greenland and Russia’s Arctic
A conversation with Marzio G. Mian and Piergiorgio Casotti
Curated by Sara Chiappori and Graziano Graziani
The Far North is the last great frontier, where a new world order is taking shape. It has been brought back on the map by the war in Ukraine, Putin’s neo-imperialist policies, NATO’s expansion through the accession of Finland and Sweden, and Trump’s expansionist ambitions toward Greenland. Today, the hottest front is the Arctic: a region of immense natural wealth where the interests of multiple powers converge, including China. As the ice melts, the race to exploit resources and secure new strategic routes is already underway.
This talk took place on 18 May 2025 as part of the first edition of the LIFE Theatre Arts Media Festival.
OUT OF THE MAP: Protests in Serbia and the Yugosphere
A conversation with Gigi Riva, Marina Lalovic
curated by Sara Chiappori and Graziano Graziani
Thirty years ago, the Dayton Accords formally brought the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina to an end, but not the instability of a region that remains in constant flux. Situated at the heart of Europe, yet consistently out of the map, the Balkans have become one of the great blind spots of the international political agenda. This is evident in the widespread indifference to the escalating tensions and growing protests in Serbia against the authoritarian government of Aleksandar Vučić, who once served as information minister under Slobodan Milošević. Why does the Yugosphere attract so little attention from the rest of Europe?

Those who report on wars and those who care for their victims: journalists and humanitarian workers are facing increasing risks in today’s conflicts, from Ukraine and Palestine to Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Witnesses to violence that appears to extend beyond the boundaries of humanitarian law, and that is increasingly tolerated—or even legitimized—by governments and political institutions.
