THREE TIMES LEFT IS RIGHT

Warning: Three Times Left is Right is an urgent show with dark humour about the polarisation of our times. How can we coexist with those whose worldviews are radically opposed to our own?
On stage is a Viennese couple inspired by a true story: she is a pioneering thinker of the identity movement; he is a cultural scientist with a communist past. Divided by irreconcilable beliefs, they embody the difficulty of shaping space, whether intimate or social. A family portrait that amplifies the fracture in society “I love to hate you. I hate to love you.”
A show that draws the viewer along a political ‘Möbius strip’. What if our moral compass changed direction? What if we thought right but acted left, or vice versa? What happens when polarisation becomes so extreme that boundaries can no longer be distinguished?
Brilliant and provocative, German artist Julian Hetzel explores the concepts of political orientation, ideology and polarisation through a powerful fusion of performance, choreography and installation.
Three Times Left is Right debuted at Wiener Festwochen in May 2025 and has been selected at the Berliner Theatertreffen in January 2026.
