Following its debut in 2025, “Crescere, la guerra” returns to theatres in 2026 and sets off on tour once again.The show is conceived and staged by journalist and war correspondent Francesca Mannocchi and musician and composer Rodrigo D’Erasmo. Two different languages come together to explore a question as simple as it is uncomfortable: what happens when war enters people’s everyday lives and changes them forever? And furthermore: what happens to our perspective? Gaza, Afghanistan, Syria, and other places ravaged by violence and its lingering aftermath take centre stage not as a backdrop, but as living matter: bodies, homes, families, spoken words and unspoken ones. War is not merely an event: it is a way in which life shrinks, shifts and adapts; it is what remains in gestures, in sleep, in the gaze.

“Crescere, la Guerra” weaves together words, music, and testimony to explore what it means to grow up — and to keep growing — in a world that never ceases to produce conflict. The narrative brings together personal experience and current events and opens a space for listening that does not seek consolation: it seeks precision, responsibility, presence.

Francesca Mannocchi’s voice and narrative are set against an original soundscape created and performed live by Rodrigo D’Erasmo, within a minimalist stage setting: the music does not merely accompany, but leaves a mark; it does not comment, but delves deep.

In 2026, the show resumes its journey, renewing a dialogue with an audience that does not ask to ‘understand’ war, but rather not to look away from what it does to people.
